They’re just snapshots for now, but we thought we’d share some progress updates of three exciting projects that we’ll be delivering this year. Each project is at a different stage of delivery and each design brief has a different purpose. So how does the Design Team stay on top of all three? With the support of our Property Team, BRM’s designers transition back and forth between jobs, lending their skills to multiple facets of each project, all the while ensuring that things are running smoothly, to budget and on time. The week is broken down into various elements of a project, from design and documentation, to site visits and liaising with suppliers and the client. Here is a glimpse of how we work: THE COMMUNITY PROJECTTHE NAME: Yoorrook Justice Commission The first formal truth-telling process into injustices experienced by First Peoples in Victoria. PROJECT STATUS: On-site THE BRIEF: This is a highly collaborative design process that involves key stakeholder engagement at every stage. We need to create multi-functional spaces as part of a corporate workplace for 50 staff, while reflecting the goal of the hearings themselves, which is to support Victorian First Peoples to share their stories and experiences of past and ongoing injustices. The space for the hearings needs be functional and accessible, and must be recognised as a First Nations space where the community can feel at home in a space that is theirs. It will be a place to congregate, share stories and bring visitors, while also maintaining the functionality needed for staff. WHAT WE'RE DOING RIGHT NOW: BRM’s design team are currently on-site working with many partners on the project. We have so far enjoyed complimentary relationships with a trusted builder and various furniture suppliers, not to mention the ongoing assistance and support of our own Property Team. The project is underway and we are working hard in collaboration with Yoorrook to ensure the time frame and expectations are met. THE TECH PROJECTTHE NAME: Trustpilot A Digital review platform that brings businesses and consumers together and offers businesses rich insights which helps them improve their customer experience PROJECT STATUS: About to commence THE BRIEF: This is a small, dynamic and young team who, like many Melbourne-based tech companies, have been comfortably working from home. Their new workspace is seen as an opportunity to help foster the company’s rapid expansion and will be a place for collaboration and congregation. WHAT WE'RE DOING RIGHT NOW: The space is currently an empty shell and we will be breaking ground as soon as next week. The BRM team know this building in Cremorne as we have delivered property and design projects for other clients here. As Trustpilot is a multinational, our team is holding regular design meetings with Germany, Denmark and Switzerland and we are enjoying the collaborative process. We’re looking forward to getting on-site and helping yet another tech company realise their vision! the web3 projectTHE NAME: This one's still a secret but we can promise exciting things to come in our next update! PROJECT STATUS: Concept and Design Development stage THE BRIEF: The goal is to set up a space that supports a new way of working in the industry. We can’t give too much away but we’ll be creating a functional space for like minded and emerging start ups to collaborate and shape future ideas. WHAT WE'RE DOING RIGHT NOW: We are currently working closely with this keen and involved client to develop design concepts that reflect the exciting idea behind the space. This will be a completely different type of workspace, the first of its kind in Melbourne, and a project which the team is excited to dig their teeth into!
