natalie gillam - gm business transformation, the nextt groupNextt is a leading provider of disability support services, enhancing the quality of life for many Australians. BRM Projects is no stranger to the folks at Nextt, having provided property strategy, search, fitout and accommodation strategy services as far back as 2015. This week we sat down with Natalie Gillam, Business Transformation General Manager at Nextt to talk about her workplace and their latest experience with the BRM team. BRM Projects has worked with Nextt over a number of years and projects and we've loved watching this organisation grow. Tell us about some of the key milestones Nextt has experienced in the industry recently?
In the last 12 months, Nextt has fulfilled its strategic decision to move away from delivering services for Aged and instead focus our skills, expertise and resources in providing Disability services and support and in particular for clients with complex needs across Disability, Autism and Mental Health needs. However our vision for clients’ “to Get More out of Life” continues to inspire us to be more than just a care provider, instead, to support and develop skills and capabilities for our clients through a skilled workforce focussed on quality service provision in line with NDIS Quality and Safeguard Standards and Practices. In the past BRM Projects has provided property strategy services to Nextt. In your opinion, how important is your workspace and its location to the type of work you guys do? Our workspace needs vary from back office support to therapy rooms equipped to deliver clinical services for children with autism who attend our Lizard Children’s Centres. With that, we also need to provide access and facilities to meet with other clients and partners. We are a national provider, with 9 regional/metro office locations, so we spend a lot of time communicating with other regional teams across Qld, NSW, VIC and SA; so provision for meeting spaces with video conferencing facilities is equally important. Tell us about the services BRM has provided most recently to Nextt. What were the major highlights of your experience working with the BRM team? Most recently, BRM were engaged to fit out our Camberwell office, which was to become a shared space for both Lizard (Children’s Centre) and Nextt staff and clients. It was an opportunity to coexist the teams with shared spaces, but also respect the specific needs of our Lizard clients and staff as well as the Nextt team. The project challenge was to ensure we minimised disruption to all teams, but specifically to children and therapists delivering services at the centre. The BRM team worked closely with staff to ensure we had agreed timelines to operate noisy work and communicated on a regular basis what they were working on; always checking in to make sure everyone was happy. The project was delivered on time, within budget, but we were most impressed with the communication and regular updates from the team and for accommodating our unique needs and managing everyone’s expectations. Lastly, what is your idea of the ultimate workplace for the kind of work you do? For Nextt and Lizard, an integrated workspace that enables clients and staff to function efficiently and effectively, to create opportunities for sharing ideas, collaborating and communicating. Our culture at Nextt and Lizard demands this way of working and we seek out or create these environments with where we operate and who we engage to help us deliver on that.
